 The Ambassador of India will not attend any of the official ceremonies of the Winter Olympics 2022, which is going to start in China from tomorrow. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information on Thursday. Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said – It is a matter of regret that China is playing politics on the pretext of Olympic Games. Our charge d'affaires in Beijing will not take part in the opening or closing ceremonies of these Games.

India has decided to boycott the Winter Olympics following reports that China handed over the torch in the torch relay of the Games to a commander 'Ki Fabao' who was involved in the Galwan Valley conflict in 2020. Apart from India, many countries including America have decided to boycott the Winter Olympics. Fabao participated in the torch relay on Wednesday. On Thursday, India decided to have a diplomatic boycott of these games.

Fabao is a regiment commander in the Chinese Army.

Who is Fabao?
According to media reports, Fabao is the regiment commander in the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China. On 15 June 2020, he was seriously injured during the conflict in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh and was captured by Indian soldiers. It was later handed over to China.

In December, he gave a sponsored interview to China's state-run TV channel (CCTV). In this he told about the incident of Galwan Valley. Fabao said - I am ready to go to the border again. We will not give even an inch of our land to anyone. The Chinese army also gave him a gallantry award. Four more soldiers also joined Fabao in the TV program.

Message to China
On May 5, 2020, 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in the Galwan conflict. Many media houses of the world including America had told that 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in Galvan Valley. However, the Xi Jinping government never gave the exact number of soldiers killed by the Chinese army, the People's Liberation Army (PLA). It is also important to know here that many countries including America have given a strong message on human rights to China by doing diplomatic boycott of Winter Olympics 2022.

What does China want?
China has never given the number of its soldiers killed in the Galvan Valley. US intelligence was the first to reveal that more than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the conflict. When these reports were published, China's Foreign Ministry in a statement admitted that it had also suffered losses. However, it was never clarified how much damage was done. On Thursday, an Australian media report said that at least 38 Chinese soldiers were killed in Galvan.

However, tension still remains between the two countries in Ladakh. Even after 14 rounds of talks, the soldiers of both the countries are face to face on some important points.

Only a citizen of China had opened the poll
In October last year, a travel blogger from China, Li Qijian, exposed China's lies on Galvan. Qijian made the video by visiting the graves of soldiers who were killed by Indian soldiers in Kangwaxi, China. A court in Pishan County later found Qijian guilty of insulting the martyrs and sentenced him to 7 months in prison. He is currently in jail.
